[Taiwan Zhenwei Tea] Vintage Oolong - 1981

Legendary Pu-erh Tea Master Lu Li-Chen & Artisanal Teas from Taiwan

Mr. Lu (or Lü Li Zhen) is the main artisan behind the revival of Yiwu's brick and mortar artisanal Pu-erh (Puer) tea cake. In the 1990s, Mr. Lu and the surviving local craftsmen brought back the micro tea makers' traditional Puer cake methodology after decades of demise. Yiwu, home to high-quality Raw Puer Tea on the southern border of China, is once again bustling with artisans crafting this centennial craft was revived. The region now thrives with Puer creation. 

Mr. Lu's Puer has been decorated with multiple accolades for many years that Puer has come back to life. His streaks include the grad prize in 2010 for his Zhenwei Hao, the signature premium Puer. He's also been at the forefront of promoting Taiwan's artisanal oolong tea for the past couple of decades, starting with his helming position at the international tea association.

Artisanal Taiwanese oolong tea handcrafted from 1981 

Zhenwei Tea is also known for its beautifully curated collection of old vintage teas. Before the oolong tea cultivar became world-famous in the 1980s, most tea from Taiwan were made to be exported abroad. It's at this time, this beautiful 1981 oolong was born. Hand crafted and hand rolled, 42 years of aging on this tea has  given the tea a unique oolong and puer hybrid flavors.

Friendly Reminder: as these tea leaves are delicate, the packaging lacks vacuum seal. The weight is also smaller than other newer vintage, smaller leaf oolongs.
